During a time of deficit outcrys from Walker and his ALEC legislators, I wonder why the heck it costs so much to fly and why he didn't just drive? Could we use this as another reason why we needed high speed rail....
MADISON - Republican Governor Scott Walker has spent more than $59,000 on air travel during his first six months in office, a little more than his Democratic predecessor spent over the same period last year.
Former Governor Jim Doyle spent about $56,000 on 27 flights in the first six months of 2010.
The newspaper reviewed Walker's travel records for the 17 trips he took between January and June 21st. The bulk of the travel came during the contentious battle over Walker's legislative agenda and budget.
Walker Spokesman Cullen Werwie says each trip is evaluated to compare the cost of flying with the cost of driving. He says it's also important for the governor to highlight job growth around the state.
