Regarding the cat killing |
|
Could anyone here give us some names links, etc. of people we could write to protest?
We in the Pets Group want to express our revulsion against this act. I believe we would be willing to boycott Wisconsin products.

2. You can write to the WDNR secretary, who seems opposed to |
|
the idea of hunting cats.
Although the citizen participants at the Conservation Congresses voted in favor of the hunt which was a citizen initiative, the professionals in the WDNR only take CC votes as recommendations.
The WDNR can recognize a controversy and isn't likely to go forward with the idea of hunting cats.

However I think this is a smoke screen story to divert our attention from the power grab against the courts.
A couple of other states including Minnesota already allow the shooting of feral cats.
As a 13+ year vegetarian and cat lover I find this very silly. We should be concerned with the respect for all life including all animals.
50 Million Dogs a year are killed in shelters. Conditions in poultry\hog operations are abhorrent and inhumane at best.
And you are concerned with the hunting of an overpopulated feral cat population that loses half it's population yearly to freezing and malnutrition.
Is there more value in the life of a wild cat or a domesticated swine? Silly question, I know.
Lets focus on the real issues this country is facing, not these knee jerk smokescreen stories the MSM puts out to keep us from being effective.

8. Stop with the kitty killer shit |
|
they are talking about FAREL CATS look it up and read the facts. If it was such a serious issue you would study the problem and see they are not talking about when your kitty goes out of your yard. They are talking about Farel Cats that are wild. I am all for this to become law and even if it don't hunters will still shoot them when they are hunting and for good reason. By the way I'm not a hunter.

11. first of all, it is "Feral" not "farel" |
|
the law is very vague. It says any cat not under the control of the owner is fair game. Yes. If my cat escaped from my house, and went on walkabout, and some cocksucker who is a sadistic Jeffery Dahmer/Bill Frist wannabe shoots her, that would be LEGAL in Wisconsin.
A feral cat and an escaped housecat look the same.
It is cruelty, period.
I suggest you look it up, because the law says any cat not controlled by an owner----which could mena just about any cat out doors. Sickos would take advantage of the vagaries and shoot neighborhood cats while drinking back beer and then would use the law to escape punishment.
I am against this asinine law.
What possible good reason? Because the cats kill birds that the hunters intend to kill?

What possible good reason? Because the cats kill birds that the hunters intend to kill? When do Hunters kill song birds? thats news to me. Do you have the facts to back up hunting song birds?
And here is the biggest piece of Classist Bullshit that I have ever read Sickos would take advantage of the vagaries and shoot neighborhood cats while drinking back beer and then would use the law to escape punishment. Is that what you really think? ALL hunters are drunks? And they sneak around killing kitties?

I wouldn't go that far, but I will tell you that 100% of the deer hunters that I know in Wisconsin include a trip to the liquor store to buy many cases of beer a required element of their preparation.

6. As a member of the DU pets Group I would like to express my revulsion |
|
at this barbaric attempt to kill felines for sport. It has nothing to do with ecosystems. Cars, suburbs, powerlines, airplanes, roads, logging and pollution are the real danger. Now becaue a bunch of savages are going to kill cats without realling doing anything to help the ecosystem, people's pets are going to be massacred wholesale.
This is intolerable.

12. It is not just about Feral cats |
|
it is about any cat that is not under it's owners control. That could mean a housecat who escaped from the house for a stroll in the woods, or a family barn cat who wandered down to the stream.
This law could legalize the mass murder of non-feral cats, Bill Frist style.

10. Why would you do a damned fool thing like that? |
|
This passed on the basis of about 8,000 votes in a non-binding poll of about 14,000 Wisconsinites. To become law, it would still have to be approved by the State Legislature and signed by the Governor. It's extremely unlikely that the Legislature will pass any such law or that the Governor would sign it.
Calm down. The kitties are safe.

18. Guv Doyle has already stated |
|
that we are the laughing stock of the country and there will be no cat-killing. I don't know that he would have made a statement had there not been fierce opposition. So it's good that everyone went to the meetings in their areas, even if this did "pass" their little hunter congress.
This is the Conservation Congress. More concerned citizens like us showing up at their meetings would get this away from soley addressing hunting, trapping, and fishing issues, and more into supporting actual Conservation.
A group effort from both sides might give this group some teeth and more to talk about than killing cats and mourning doves.

13. I'm not sure what a boycott would accomplish, |
|
but certainly writing letters is a good idea. I wish there were more support of the feral cat programs. We have trapped feral cats here on our place and put them into the program. They're neutered, given vaccinations, get their little ears marked, and then they're released on farms that have agreed to take them.
I know it's a slow and expensive program, but it's sickening that this is another situation in which humans have created a problem and then we solve it by killing creatures. :(
