On my way to Deadwood I made sure to see Devil's Mountain.
I certainly is a sight,any theories on what formed it.

1. Do you mean Devil's Tower? If so, it is a truly impressive sight,
and I believe it is the cone of an extinct volcano. We visited it several years ago and stayed two days because it was so beautiful.

I had to go see it. Got a t-shirt and a mug from the gift shop there.

3. It's a volcanic plug.
Basalt flow filled the "throat" of the volcano, solidified, and when the mountain wore away, it was left.
