There are Dems in Wyoming? |
|
I just noticed your state had the fewest posts so I thought I would add one more. A big Hello from Missouri! Hang in there folks.

3. we do have a Dem governor |
|
but, in any other state, he'd be a Republican. And, for some reason, yes, we like Dem governors but only repugs are good enough to send to DC in the last 30 years.
We kept Barbara Cubin -- our very controversial, very ineffective representative -- to 55% with a good challenger. I hear a lot of discontent against Bush but his re-elect was disappointingly high. More WY repugs are libertarian and the religious right doesn't (totally) control our Repub Party -- most of whom deserve to be called Repubs, not repugs.
Still, it's always an uphill fight here. But we fight it. And, for the joy of living in this gorgeous, thoroughly unique and wonderful state, I'll stay here and fight it any day.
Since 2004, I've considered moving to Canada and, I feel quite sure that if I didn't live in Wyoming but in some less appealing place (to me, anywhere east of the Mississippi), I'd be planning my escape by now. But my heart belongs to Wyoming. Despite it's being a stereotypically bleeding liberal heart.

4. Similar here in NC...... |
|
We are branded as a "red state" and we have been at the federal level, but at the state level we are totally blue. Democratic governor, lt. gov., both houses of state legislature controlled by Dems. Seems strange and schizophrenic to me! We have several Dem representatives, and now both Senators are Repub (since Edwards is out of office now). Unpredictable. We are getting more and more Yankee transplants, though, and of course our large cities lean blue. Maybe in a few years we'll be a legitimate swing state. Kerry got 44% of the vote last year, so that's nothing to sneeze at!
On another note, I love Wyoming! Have travelled there several times and will be out again in about 2 weeks! Absolutely gorgeous place, wish I could find a job there! NC is beautiful but getting WAY too crowded for my taste.
