They sent that hate-filled POS running and used their right of free speech to do it!

comment on the article so I scrolled down and was shocked to see the number of comments and the content of the comments. So far there are over 3000 comments and from what I can see, the majority seem to be pro-Coulter and from Americans. I guessed right away that this article must have been linked to on the Drudge Report and sure enough I was right. I knew something was odd because other Canadian articles I've read have had mostly anti-Coulter comments. The difference is that those articles weren't linked to by Sludge. http://www.canada.com/news/Coulter+cancels+Ottawa+speech+blames+Canada/2718231/story.html

A bunch of people at Ottawa U exercised their right of free speech.
Coulter claimed it scared her.
Huh. IRONIC at all?

One blog even encouraged people to bring stones to throw at her. I think she's a vile woman, but I don't like the way this was handled.

Can you cite and quote that blog, please?
The way it was handled was that people in Canada who are entitled to express their opinions (and yes, assemble) in public did so, and she didn't like it.
Tough old bananas.
You know her claims of being afraid for her safety are laughable, I know they're laughable, and anybody with two brain cells and a shred of integrity knows they're laughable. Well, maybe laughable isn't the best description. Filthy lies might be better.
Before that, she was PRIVATELY approached to bring certain facts about the country she was visiting to her attention, and SHE chose to make that message public and LIE about its content, just by the way.

8. I'm going by what I read in my school paper thismorning |
|
probably not the most reliable source, but I'd assume they probably got it from the globe or the star. If I had the time I would go check. If I'm wrong, then I apologize, but if she *TRULY* felt that she couldn't speak because her life was in danger, then I think that's a travesty. To quote something I read today, society doesn't grow only through good ideas, it also grows through debating and dismantling bad ones.
Besides, this OP was made before the details were known. At the time it was believed that Ottawa U cancelled her appearance, so the OP seems to be cheering the fact that they censored her.

If you *TRULY* believe that she "felt" that, then ... well, impossible premises and all that. Travesty. You might want to look that word up.
At the time it was believed that Ottawa U cancelled her appearance
"It was believed". I love a good passive construction. Somebody believed? Based on ...? I missed early reports, I guess. It was actually reported that this was the case? Based on ...?
Are you making the claim that the original poster believed this? Have you enquired?
Maybe so. I wouldn't give a flying fuck if it had, but I gather the reason allegedly given for this non-fact was some sort of safety concern. Had that been the case, and the concern on the school's part genuine, then it wouldn't call for cheering or booing, except that it's reasonable to cheer decisions made to protect people's safety.
Me, I could still be immensely cheery about Ann Coulter not doing anything anytime anywhere, I guess. Whatever the reason was.
