OPP union wants to know why cocaine charges dropped

Ontario Provincial Police officers — “shocked” at how Rahim Jaffer’s case was handled by the Ontario atttorney-general’s office — want to know why the drunk driving and cocaine possession charges they laid against the embattled former MP were dropped.

“Our members conducted a thorough, professional and detailed investigation,” Karl Walsh, president of the Ontario Provincial Police Association, said in a statement Thursday. “They were prepared to have their evidence tested at court but were never given the opportunity.”

I guess the cops don't want to take the blame for this. I don't blame them.

1. Good for them!

This should have gone to court where the evidence would have been tested as to it's admissibility in public. I am glad they are not backing down on this. There is little doubt in my mind Jaffer received special treatment and did, indeed, get a big "break" as iterated by the Judge.

2. I have seen charges re-activated

If the administration of justice becomes in ill repute, or whatever phrase they use. Ultimately, this is where this may be headed.
