Privy Council backdated Mulroney-Schreiber inquiry expenses: audit

A newly released audit has found officials in the Privy Council Office improperly “backdated” approvals for legal expenses that ran over budget at the Oliphant commission.

The audit, which was obtained by The Canadian Press under the Access to Information Act, does not identify who ran over budget or by how much.

The Feb. 11 report examines how the federal government handled legal bills for participants granted standing at the commission run by Jeffrey Oliphant, former Manitoba associate chief justice.

Oliphant should just come clean on this matter. Maybe it's all on the up and up, but considering the people involved, the public deserves to know the score.
