Peter MacKay says he’ll remain at his post

Federal Defence Minister Peter MacKay is denying rumours he’ll soon follow former cabinet colleague Jim Prentice into a lucrative private sector job.

“I have the best job in the country and I am very, very happy doing what I am doing,” MacKay said and a fundraising gala for Canadian soldiers Wednesday night.

“And I have no plans to resign . . . I have no plans to resign.”

Prentice, the former environment minister, resigned his high profile post last week to take a senior executive position with the CIBC.
