The Liberal Party's plan for corporate taxes would "stall our fragile economic growth and kill jobs," Finance Minister Jim Flaherty said Tuesday.
Flaherty met with reporters in the foyer of the House of Commons in Ottawa Tuesday to slam an opposition motion moved by Liberal MP Scott Brison.
Brison had moved that the government restore the tax rate for large corporations to 2010 levels of 18 per cent. The federal corporate tax rate was dropped to 16.5 per cent on Jan. 1.
"Canada's competitive taxes helped create over 460,000 jobs since the end of the recession, since July 2009," Flaherty said. "We are on the right track."
