Outspoken healthcare critic and former Tory MLA Raj Sherman announced Tuesday he is seeking the leadership of the Alberta Liberal Party.
"My family all said, listen, we'd like you to run for the Liberal Party. We don't want you going back to the PC party because we're not happy the way that they treated you," he said.
Sherman said he intends to remain an independent until the end of the session. Current leader David Swann has already announced he is stepping down once the session wraps up.
Sherman announced his decision at a noon-hour news conference at the West End Seniors Activity Centre.
