ENERGY Secretary Chris Huhne has left his wife after admitting an affair with a former party aide. The 55-year-old Lib Dem confirmed last night he had separated from Vicky, his wife of 26 years, and was now in a relationship with Carina Trimingham. It is understood the affair started at least a year ago. In a statement, he said: “I am in a serious relationship with Carina Trimingham and I am separating from my wife.” http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/181987/Chris-Huhne-in-secret-affair-with-former-Liberal-Democrat-aide/Also in: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk/10358658.stmand here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1287946/Minister-Chris-Huhne-splits-wife-affair-colleauge.html

If as it appears HE has left HER after his adultery was revealed then he's despicable.
Was this guy an orange booker? I forget.

| 2. That is very bad on a personal level... |
|
but Huhne - unlike Caroline Nokes; John Major and what seemed like most of his Cabinet; and the Clinton-impeachers in America - had not been promoting Family Values and Back-to-Basics for the rest of us, while indulging in their own affairs, so there isn't the same stench of hypocrisy.
I hope this doesn't result in his being kicked out of the Cabinet; he is one of the most competent members, not that there is exactly a fantastic level of competition.

| 3. I'm sure there's plenty of Tory ministers... |

...with skeletons in their own closets so for that reason I suspect that they won't be in any hurry to kick him out for this.
I think we can all remember Back to Basics.

| 4. My memory is that it was compulsory for ministers in Tory governments. |
