Is there anything I/we yanks can do for the storm victims?

I heard this morning before heading out to work that a relief fund has been set up.

If you want to donate money the info is:

The appeal would be an effective way to help people directly affected by the storm.

Donations can be made at any Commonwealth Bank branch. Cheques can be made out to the Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal fund, account number 064-013-1000-6800.

An appeal hotline [phone]) will be opened to accept donations by credit card.

What I would suggest you do is perhaps contact the QLD government (http://www.thepremier.qld.gov.au/) and ask about how non Australian residents can donate. Or take the Commonwealth banking information to your bank and ask them directly.
