Labor MPs shooting themselves in the foot again. |
|
I can't believe what I'm seeing - they just re-elected Mark Latham, but this small crowd of has-beens and wannabes can't resist getting themselves in the news with a dig at Latham.
Okay, I'm more Green than Labor (especially since they preferenced Family First), but Labor is the only viable alternative government. And they're giving Howard an easy ride - they might as well go home for the next three years and just hand that election to the Libs as well. Sure, Latham's a long way from perfect and may well not be leader at the next election, but they had their chance to vote against him at the spill after the election, and now they should shut up and try to figure out just what it is they stand for apart from self-promotion. Labor has such a sad history of the factions airing their dirty linen in public - does it occur to any of them to take a look at the Libs and see what works? One thing is that nobody ever criticises Howard in public (and probably not in private either) because they'd be dead meat if they did. But it works in terms of public perception of party unity, although I've heard that many of them really hate Howard personally.
I just can't believe these Labor idiots - why would anyone want to vote for such a sorry lot of grumbling losers?

1. a by-product of being in opposition I think |
|
the Lib's played leadership round-a-bout and stabbed each other in the back plenty during the Hawke/Keating years. Doesn't make it anymore palatable though.
Guess it's not bothering me much coz I doubt very much that I'll ever vote for them again anyway...actually scratch the again bit, never actually have voted for them, I came of age after they'd turned into economic rationalists

2. However much blood they spill behind closed doors, |

they should just shut up in public. I can't believe the knives are into Latham just weeks after he was re-elected. I'm ambivalent about him, he's certainly not my ideal, but they've chosen him, they should back him for at least 12 months.
We're all going to be in for a rough ride after July - Howard will take them to the cleaners if they can't get their act together.
