Who's going to be watching "Four Corners" tonight? |
|
See the Liberals dig their knives into Howard.
The arrogant little prick deserves everything he gets.

I enjoyed seeing the little turd getting thrashed and humiliated all over again. I don't think I'll ever tire of it.

2. One thing that surprised me was that Joe Hockey |
|
was one of the few with the guts to say directly to Howard that it was time for him to go. I didn't know he had it in him.
And not a surprise was that Peter Costello is still waffling, not saying he would have, or could have, or should have, challenged. The reality is that he's only good for smart-arse comments - no backbone at all. That's why he could never get the numbers, I guess - his own party knew he didn't have the ticker.

4. Just goes to show how much power Howard |
|
wielded in the party room. His hubris was monumental.
As for Uncle Joe, he may have been the only one who had the balls to tell Howard his use-by date had run out, but he did spruik to the hilt Howard’s WorkChoices, even though he knew workers would be worse off! Kind of cancels out any ball-worthiness he may have gained in confronting Howard. I'll never forgive Joe Hockey for his role in the scaremongering and denigration of unions and union members.
What a cowardly bunch they all were/are. Great insight presented by Four Corners. It reinforced Australia's excellent decision to throw the bastards out on their arses.

5. It was a bit disingenuous for him to say that members of the Cabinet |
|
were unaware that workers could actually have their rights stripped from them.
They knew - they just didn't give a damn.

WorkChoices was a euphemism for the deregulation of the workforce, which of course means workers losing their rights, loss of entitlements, etc. And lots more. Yes, they knew, and yes, they didn't care. Bastards.

6. I think Joe Hockey was the only one prepared to say it to camera. |

All of the players in the Libs would have seen it coming. A few would have even mentioned the elephant in the cabinet room. The problem is that when you are a dinosaur you can't really point and laugh at elephants. So corporately they decided on suicide. I suspect now that John Howard is a broken man. The trouble with power is that it is so hard to give up. Look at Hawkey. I hope that the Libs can recover enough to be a decent opposition. Remember that a government will only work as hard as it is made to.

After today's debacle ... surely you jest! I've been watching Question Time all week, and the Libs have been nothing but disruptive, constantly interrupting and calling invalid points of order and contributing nothing meaningful to debate. Admittedly, the other side was posturing/grandstanding, rubbing salt into the wound. Today's shameful display with cut-out Kev was really over the top. It's a desperate opposition with nothing to say.

9. No, I am not jesting, the overall quality of government depends |
|
on them all doing their job properly. Scrutiny is always good in the end. It may be an ugly opposition, but it's the only one we have. They all will sober up after a couple of months.

10. They're like a bunch of playground thugs and bullies |
|
who've suddenly had their wings clipped. They're still in a daze, kicking and screaming against anyone who comes near, but completely impotent.
And Nelson can do no more than appeal to the very worst elements in the party, just as Howard did. If this is his best, I don't think he'll even make it to the next election. He's no leader.
