Please know our thoughts and hearts are with you. This is a terrible, terrible thing. I understand at least some of it is believed to be arson. If that's the case, I hope the perpetrator(s) is caught and brought to justice - not that there can ever really be justice for something like this.

1. The arsonist speculation always comes out when

there is a bushfire.
There may be some cretin/s, but the bush was due to explode.
I think there will be a vast amount of information revealed in the Royal Commission enquiry.

2. The fires at Churchill and probably Marysville

are both believed to be the work of arsonists.

Catching them is something else again.

BL. I'm very close and it is a tragic time. One fire, the longest burning almost certainly arson, a second one suspected.

Interestingly one of the guys at work has a brother in the volunteer firefighters who was at one of the big fires on Saturday, the one that grew and turned into numerous killer fires. It was started by an exploding power transformer.
