QUEENSLAND has endured its driest March quarter for more than 100 years.
And there is no end in sight with the immediate outlook showing the parched conditions will continue.
In Brisbane, just 138mm of rain fell in the March quarter – including 12.4mm last month – the lowest for 103 years.
In 1902, Brisbane registered 122mm but the all-time low was in 1849 when only 98mm fell during the three months that is usually the wettest period.
Last month's registration was the fifth lowest since falls were first recorded in 1840. Brisbane went without rain in 1849, there were 2.8mm in 1915, 8.6 in 1965 and 5.2 in 1980
