On the face of it, Acorn has a very legitimate suit for slander and defamation against John McCain and his handlers for charging that Acorn “is now on the verge of maybe perpetrating one of the greatest frauds in voter history ... maybe destroying the fabric of democracy.” Even with all the qualifiers, it's clear that his intent has been to tie the organization with, at the very least, planning criminal activity. Why is the Acorn legal dept. not putting the McCain campaign on the defensive by creating a newsworthy court case? Even though it would be too costly to prevail against the RNC's deep pockets, the suit could be settled after the election, and would speak the only language those SOB's understand--take no prisoners politics.
