Iran admits election demonstrators were tortured

...Human rights groups had previously identified at least three detainees who they say died as a result of torture at Kahrizak, which was closed last month on the orders of Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Moghaddam denied the abuses were responsible for any fatalities there, claiming an unspecified "viral illness" had caused the deaths.

Trial of post-election protestors resumes in Iran

The second hearing for the trial of protestors and activists who were arrested after the disputed presidential election resumed in Tehran on Saturday, the official IRNA news agency reported.

·The second hearing for the trial of protestors and activists resumed in Tehran on Saturday.
·A female French, 2 workers of French and British embassies were among the accused.
·More than 1,000 protestors were reportedly arrested in the wake of the disputed election.

Charges against the arrested people included "being connected to the terrorist groups, bombing, carrying weapons, raiding the police, Basij (voluntary militia), universities and military bases, sending images to the enemy, organizing vandals and rioters, damaging public and governmental centers," according to IRNA.
