I’m almost through with Les Miserables. |
|
Less than 100 pages to go now.
Last night I got to the part where Jean Valjean tells Marius that he is a convict. That part of the book (and some others) to me is so moving.
At first I thought Thenardier was worse than Javert, but then I decided Thenardier was just an asshole. Javert is a more complex character.
I hope Thenardier will get his comeuppance, but so near the end, I kind of doubt it.
Victor Hugo had progressive opinions about women’s status in society, income inequality, etc.

I have it on my bookshelf. Have seen the musical umpteen times but I know there is much, much more to be gleaned from the book. Did you enjoy?

2. Yes, I did. It was worth the read. |

By the way, Thenardier never got what he deserved, alas.

3. I'm going to have to pull that from my bookshelf and get started. |

There are so many people walking this earth such as Thernardier (Bush, perhaps?) that never get their comeuppance. Sigh.
