I just finished Black & White by Dani Shapiro....

Highly recommended by the New York critics but I didn't get it...

I understand the childhood trauma that was put forth in the book but the reaction of the main character seemed to be way over the top and the, for lack of a better expression, "punishment di not fit the crime..."

Supposedly a very gifted writer, this Dani Shapiro...

I didn't get that from this book...

Good, certainly, but deserving of the gushing accolades...

Maybe because the book was centered around NYC and the art culture that seems to dominate...

I just don't get it...

Wait until it's in paperback or take it out of the library if you must read this book...
