When I first picked up the series more than 10 years ago, I somehow knew he would die before it was over.
I've had issues with his writing style and his pacing, but I thoroughly enjoyed his work.
RIP

When my youngest was home over Labor Day weekend he mentioned hoping that Jordan would live to finish the final book. :-(

before he died, he dictated all of the storylines he wanted to put in the book onto a tape recorder, and left instructions to use those tapes to finish the book after his death.

I stopped reading the series after finishing the 4th book, convinced it wasn't going to go anywhere anytime soon. RJ might have been a great writer, but most of us will never know, because his publishers and editors for WoT indulged him far too much. Was no one allowed to go near the manuscripts with a blue pencil?
What possible reason can there be for allowing the series to eat up as much paper as it does? It came down to one thing: a cash cow to be milked. Now, he's dead and they'll all have made their money on the franchise. In years to come? In 100 years, no one is going to say McDonald's was great because their burgers tasted so good.

I really enjoy the series, but many of the books were superfluous. Just written to make more money.
The one that's going to be published posthumously is that last book though.

I have to say RJ is a wonderful writer... I was very upset with him untill the last book. Was dismayed on learning his illness. He will be missed
