Oh nuts. Got my latest book picked up from the library about Joe Pickett, Wyoming Forest Ranger. Very disappointed.
I'm only on page 6, and, "Hell has frozen over," is the message Joe gets from his supervisor, because...... a Democrat has been elected governor! His boss would rather quit than have Dems in charge (I think this part is not fiction :))
Skimming through the book, I see where Joe gets fired....then I go to the last page, and see that Joe is still fired.
At this point, the book almost went back into the library plastic bag.
But I've invested time in this character (about 4 or 5 books), and like him. So I find a review of the newest book which I haven't seen yet, and it says that the Dem governor calls on Joe for help in a crime. Good, now I can read in peace.
