Just finished Margaret Atwood's The Blind Assassin

My God! It was an amazing and if I might add, perfect novel...

Just stunned by it's beauty...

Anyone else like it?

I don't think Atwood will ever top "Robber Bride".

7. Handmaid's Tale stands tall

despite the more elaborated structure of Robber Bride and genre variances. I'd hate to be forced to pick one over the other. I'd enjoy learning what makes Blind Assassin "perfect"? A close to "perfect novel" would be Dunn's "Geek Love." Contrasting characters in Arty and the narrator, imaginative plot hook--amputation cult, allusive to other memorable work--Browning's movie "Freaks", arresting detail and color like the flyroper.

As far as Blind Assassin, I loved the characters, the interwoven narrative of the three different stories, and I found I could not put it down and did not want it to end...

and the writing? Just gorgeous...

2. I have yet to read either that or "The Handmaidens Tale"

...but I read "Alias Grace," and simply couldn't put it down...Attwood rocks! And is a Canadian author, as well.

9. I'm so glad to have finally picked up Atwood's books . . .

she has definitely made her way to the top of my *Must-Read* author list!

I'm 1/3 of the way through *The Blind Assassin* and marvel at the richness of her characters and the way that keeps me spellbound as she unfolds her tales.

Have you read "Cat's Eye" or "Alias Grace".

I think she's an amazing writer.

and I have never met one I did not like .

Some , like The Edible Woman seems outdated but it is still interesting

Creepy how she manages to speak directly to my private thoughts. Apparently she know how to write and how I read. Creepy and great!

19. Oh! I'm so excited to see this!

It's my month to choose for my book club and this is the book I chose. I came here to scope and see if anybody'd read it and I am SO happy to see that YOU read it and liked it. I chose it blind (oh damn, sorry - that was totally unintentional) because I loved A Handmaid's Tale. I pondered Oryx & Crake but thought it might be too odd for my book club girls. Now I feel much more confident about my choice.
