Never mind the dumbass sequels--do you think Scarlett got Rhett back?

I personally don't. I think he'd had it. I think she probably made a nuisance of herself for awhile, and then finally accepted that he was through.

he, Scarlett (while she was obsessed with Ashley) and She, Ashley (prior to Melanie's death). Once the dynamics changed, so too, did the allure: he, no longer wanting Scarlett now that she wanted him, and she, no longer wanting Ashley, now that he "could be had."

So, no.... probably not...

3. What about the house,

She was so obsessed with that big house - what'd she call it - I forget. I wonder if she got to keep it, and if so, who cleaned it with the slaves gone?

Raccoon, I think that part of the story is gone with the wind, but you can surely see how a sequel was and is desperately needed.

As for the house in Atlanta, she says she's going back to Tara... so I don't gather she cares that much about the big Atlanta house.

Thank you . . . . she liked that big ole house more than Rhett or Ashley. And what woman in her right mind would have preferred Trevor Howard over Clark Gable. It puts this book in the realm of science fiction.

Never saw any sequel, but I think they would've corresponded because of the child, scathing letters probably, maybe met again once or twice on the daughter's life occasions like her marriage. Maybe a few half-hearted machinations on Scarlett's part over the years. In keeping with those kinds of epics, fate would have thrown them together, a chance meeting at a cafe or something in their old age and had a wistful conversation full of regrets before parting forever.

Their daughter together, Bonnie, died after falling off a horse. In the novel, Scarlett has two other children, her son Wade by Charles Hamilton and her daughter Ella by Frank Kennedy (these children didn't exist in the movie). While Rhett is kind to his step-children, I don't think that their existence would be enough to draw the two of them back together.
