New Stories From the South |
|
Hello all - I'm currently reading New Stories From the South 1997... the year doesn't really matter - this is an annual anthology of short fiction (which has been going for 20+ years now) written by southern writers. Yes, some of it deals with Bubba and Bubbette n' how ther life in th' trailer park is, but a surprising number of these stories are NOT of that ilk - they just happen to be written by good southern writers.
You may be able to find this story in one of his collections (sorry, I didn't take the time to look that up), but I was cackling earlier today as I started reading Robert Olen Butler's "Help Me Find My Spaceman Lover", which is a riot.
I've probably read at least half a dozen of these New Stories From the South anthologies, and some are obviously better than others, but I'm enjoying this one so much - maybe just because I haven't read one in a few years - that I just ordered 6 more (used) of them.
