The Appeal by John Grisham |
|
Highly recommended. Its fiction but it reads like today's headlines and points up in graphic detail what happens when ignorant people are riled up to vote because they have "values." Slick campaign operatives backed by unscrupulous and criminal money bags pick a candidate and poke a stick at the unwashed masses. Very sad story.
I'd love to see this book reviewed by hannity or limbaugh. They would spin themselves into the ground halfway to China.

1. I'm a big fan of Grisham, Bosshog, so thanks for the recommend. |

I was just thinking moments ago before reading your OP, 'Now I can read all those anti-Bush books I've bought over the past 8 years, because the nightmare is over & it won't be so painful.' True, I've bought the books but couldn't bring myself to read them for fear that my blood pressure would boil over. Having written to my representatives time after time, I felt like a hostage who could only sit back & watch one crime after another go unaccountable, with my representatives' blessings.
So, with the promise of a better-run country, I'll be happy to check out "The Appeal". I love Grisham's writing style.

3. Grisham tells a good story. Great Literature, it isn't but he picks you up and |
|
carries you along like strong river current.
I love a book that just takes off like that. The Firm had me on the edge of my seat, with the added plus that the settings were all places very familiar to me (except the part in the Bahamas or where ever)

because in a serious and easily believable manner, he was peeing all over conservative values and those who have them.
