Can anyone help me with this children's book I read decades ago? |
|
This would be about mid 1960's when I read it and it wasn't a new book then.
I think it was set in England. THere were two brothers and a sister, Gerald, Kathleen, and I can't remember the other name.
It was kind of a fantasy. The characters met some people made out of papier mache or something. These beings talked funny; it was like they couldn't say hard consonants. I remember one of them asking "Can you recommend me to a good hotel?" (that's been translated) and it said "ho el" for hotel.
It wasn't a particularly interesting book, but I just wonder if anyone is familiar with it.
