Has anyone read anything by Elizabeth Berg?

She writes books that have a young girl or a woman as the central character. Her early books were very, very good works with a great depth of writing. But in recent years, I think her writing has gone downhill. The last 3 or 4 books were great disappointments to me, especially the endings. They were abrupt and left me with the sense that she got bored with the book and just wrote anything to finish it. In fact, after I read her last book "Dream When You're Feeling Blue", I swore I was finished with her.

I decided to give her another chance and I am now reading "Home Safe". It is entertaining, but I wouldn't consider it literature by any stretch of the imagination.

Does anyone feel the same way?

Yes---I couldn't get past the first chapter of "Dream".

2. I Definitely Agree

My favorite was "Pull of the Moon." But the more books she writes, the more I don't like them. I find this with lots of authors, though.

3. Can you give me a recommendation for the first book I should read by her?

I was browsing through one of them at Border's recently. I thought it was pretty interesting how she seemed simplistic on the surface but was actually more sophisticated than first glance.
