1. Just finished Scarecrow, by Connelly this morning. I'm still in my escapism phase.

I have been reading 2-3 mysteries per week for nearly 2 years. I used to read nonfiction and more literate fiction, albeit not at that rate, more like 2 or so per month.

I don't see my pattern changing any time soon. Know of any good mystery authors?

8. I just finished

Engines of God by Jack McDevitt, and am finishing up Raising Steaks by Betty Fussell. Not sure which of the seven or eight library books I currently have I'll start on next, or maybe I'll read one of the books I bought recently.

14. Just finished BELOW ZERO by C. J. Box

This is a wonderful series that takes place in Wyoming, most enjoyed when you start with the first book. Joe Pickett (Ranger) is one of my fav characters.

15. I read the Paoloni books,

I started this past Saturday with Eragon, and I read Eldest, and I just finished Brisingr about two hours ago.

Not a bad read, not all the great either, on a scale of 1-10, 1 being utter crap, 10 being godlike, I give this series a strong 6.5, maybe a 7.

I just started my first Piers Anthony novel about an hour ago, Spell of the Chameleon. So far its not bad.

16. I just finished reading "The Ruin" by Scott Smith

Same guy that wrote "A Simple Plan".


Creepy as hell, no pun intended. I picked up the book at the local thrift store for a buck last week. I saw the movie last year and it creeped me out pretty well, so I thought I'd give it a try.

when it first came out and read it straight through on a Sunday
IIRC it doesn't have chapters (correct me if I'm wrong)
Very hard to put down
I have never read A Simple Plan or seen either movie

It's definitely different but I really enjoyed how he doesn't worry about offending anyone just tells his story and lets it go
