19. Pillars of the Earth is one of favorite books

I just love the story. I read it awhile ago, and then reread it recently before reading World Without End

6. Just finished The Strain

by Guillermo Del Torro and Jack Hogan (I think that's the second guy's name). It's a horror story about vampirism spread by a virus.

I'm getting ready to read Living Dead in Dallas, the second Sookie Stackhouse mystery, next.

7. The World Without Us-details what happens if man goes poof! from the planet.

Hotel Babylon- the book that the Brit tv series was based on. Actually very interesting.
A fast read.

The Botany of Desire-I think everyone knows about this book by now.

Like a lot of folks, I have several books going at once.

8. "How To Survive a Horror Movie" by Seth Grahame-Smith

A teeny little book that is pretty entertaining.

9. THE LIONS OF LUCERNE by Brad Thor

Nicely written, a bit too long, just over 400 pages. Would have been better done in about 350. Good story, characters.... I'm on pp. 323 and I'm anxious to see how our hero catches the bad guys...


I've read these by Crider: A GHOST OF A CHANCE, A ROMANTIC WAY TO DIE, RED, WHITE & BLUE MURDER, MAMMOTH MURDER, BOOKED FOR A HANGING. I have these books on my list which I started last year, should have started sooner.

16. THE DARK HORSE by Craig Johnson - *****

Am giving this 5 stars because it's so enjoyable. Not great literature, just a fine way to get away from it all with people I really like.

I loved his last one, ANOTHER MAN'S MOCCASINS, as well as the first three he wrote.

He's only written 5 novels, and just like our board's Jon Loomis, who has only written two, they're both worth your time (go back and read the earlier ones in both cases.

An excellent book to read - and the chapters are such that you can really pick it up and read whatever chapter you'd like. Probably a little benefit to reading in order, but can also jump around.
