One of the few non-fiction books I've read in a while.
It's excellent.

9. I finished Barbara Kingsolver's The Lacuna earlier in the |
|
week, then today I finished Anne Tyler's latest, Noah's Compass.
All of Barbara Kingsolver's books are great, although this is now my favorite of them all. Noah's Compass seemed like a snack by comparison, although a tasty one.

I tought it a delicious snack! But I'm a big fan of hers. Haven't read anything by her I didn't like. Love Kingsolver, but have not been able to get ino "The Lacuna." I'm detemined to try again.

14. I think I've read all of Anne Tyler's books. My favorite just might |
|
be Searching for Caleb. The grandfather is one of my all time favorite characters.

"Ladder of Years." I appreciated her feeling neglected, especially when the reporter asked the husband for a description, and he didn't know the color of his wife's eyes!

13. NORTH OF NOWHERE by Steve Hamilton |
|
This was pretty good. It's the 4th mystery in a series about Alex McKnight. I liked the first 2, A COLD DAY IN PARADISE, and WINTER OF THE WOLF MOOON, but didn't like the 3rd book, THE HUNTING WIND, as much as the others.
Takes place in the UP of Michigan, interesting characters, light humor..

It's a decent western based on the infamous Bender family that murdered wayward travelers in 1870's Kansas. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bloody_Benders
