Why any discussion of Ayn Rand turns into a ****storm on 4chan |
|
http://boards.4chan.org/lit/res/382968I'm not going to bother with select quotations.

3. Yes, remain ignorant of ideas you don't think you'll like. |
|
Then wonder why you get run over.

5. Oh, I think any educated person needs to hold his or her nose |
|
and at least read "The Fountainhead," the least deplorable of a laughably deplorable series of polemics thinly disguised as novels by one of the worst novelists of all time, just to get an idea of what has impressed pimply youth so much. Kids can almost buy the silly premise of that book, although most get their senses of humor back before they have managed to plod the whole way through "Atlas Shrugged."
Most of even the most fervent Randorrhoids get it knocked out of them by the time they turn 25. Only those who manage to lead completely charmed lives, economically speaking, can cling to the idiocy of youth past the age of 30.
Still, you'll want to know what the discussions are about, so grit your teeth and read the bugger.

6. Harper Valley PTA on here. |

Worse than rightwingers with this. Condemn a book and/or writer without ever bothering to read it.

8. What about those who condemn her work *after* reading it? |
|
And what of those who have examined her biography and found her to be an utterly deplorable person?
It would be nice if it were as simple as "they hate her 'cuz they ain't read her," but in truth it's rather more complicated than that.

It was up last night. Didn't miss anything. Just a bunch of posts about how her books should be burned along with Fahrenheit 451 lol.
