2. I finally got around to those stupid Legend Of The Seeker books.... |
|
Just finished the 6th one today - "Faith of the Fallen" or some shit like that.
Thankfully this one was actually pretty good, and not crap like the previous ones. It gets tedious, reading shitty-800-page-book after shitty-800-page-book.

15. My library doesn't have it...but |
|
melcat (other libraries do) and I could get it...they also have PRACTICAL DEMONKEEPING: A COMEDY OF HORRORS, by Christopher Moore. I always read mysteries - what category are these in?
I hate to go to them for something I may not read. What's the main character like? I'll look up a review on Amazon too...
Thanks..

21. Hmmm, the main character. |
|
I'm not quite sure who would qualify as the main character. I suppose it would be Travis, who has control (but not quite) of his own personal demon (named Catch). But there's a whole mess load of additional characters in the book.
It's not Moore's funniest, but it was his first book, so he was probably just getting his feet wet. There's a little bit of mystery here, but it's mostly humor. Which is why I like Moore.

11. Beefheart: Through the Eyes of Magic by John French |
|
John French was the drummer in Captain Beefheart's Magic Band. It is fascinating to read how truly insane Captain Beefheart was. He seems very similar to Charles Manson in that he could control and manipulate people thru drugs and a forceful personality. Really interesting if you dig Captain Beefheart on any level...

This is 40 years old, but I'd never read it. An astonishing oversight. If you're a fantasy fan, this is essential reading.

17. Just finished "Cape Disappointment" by Seattle mystery writer Earl Emerson |
|
All I can say is that I wouldn't be surprised if Emerson reads DU, because this is a VERY political mystery, which I didn't realize when I bought it. (I bought it because I've liked the author's previous books.)

I like political novels if they're not Republicans. I will have to look this guy up.
Thanks..

Yesterday I finished Whiskey Sour by J.A. Konrath, and today I started The Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee. I liked Whiskey Sour and may have to seek out the other books in the series. The Tanith Lee book is good so far.
