The Passage by Cronin. Don't. Just don't. |

Read (or re-read) The Stand and enjoy yourself.

3. I read (and raved) about this last week |
|
when I was less than half way through. It completely collapsed at the end though and really pissed me off for leading me on for 500+ pages.

5. Interesting convergence of opinion here vs. NYT literary critic on Charlle Rose |
|
I don't frequent this forum but I'm watching a NY Times literary critic on Charlie Rose just rave about this book so I thought I'd come here and post to see if anyone here has read it. He says it's a beautifully written book, a barn-burner, riveting, that the writer knows how to get inside of people's heads and talk about feelings. (But then he doesn't like "The Girl Who...) series AT ALL.)
I find that a few of you have read it and have already posted about it. Based on what I read here, I won't jump on it, much as I'm always in the mood for riveting novels.

I just finished it.
The first 250 pages really lead you to believe you've got a great novel in your hand. Then things change...
This is the first book of a planned trilogy. You've been warned.

9. I gave up around the 550 page mark |

Long past where it got hopelessly tedious.

10. Heartedly disagree with OP. Yes, it has shades (only) of The Stand & Swan Song, |
|
and it does get bogged down into details in sections, but this is one heck of a read. 776 pages and I read it in a week, after work and weekends. I personally couldn't put this book down.

11. I got a free copy of the book and I'll give it a go this weekend. |
|
Don't know what to think about the book yet. I've read both good and bad reviews. We'll see.

I can't wait for the next book. Not sure why some didn't care for the book but I guess we all have our individual tastes.
