Has anybody else read the "Game of Thrones" series? |
|
I picked it up shortly before the HBO series started, and ended up reading straight through all 4 books. It was riveting from start to finish. My only complaint is that the 4th book left me hanging. Other than that, I give it an "A".
BTW, the next book is supposed to be out shortly. It may be one of the few I buy in hardback instead of waiting for the paperback edition...

1. No, but I've enjoyed the HBO series (unexpectedly)... |
|
Not usually really my genre, but I do like period pieces. Maybe I'll check them out in electronic form...

3. I think of it as Machiavelli meets King Arthur... |
|
Almost no magic, just some good old-fashioned sword-fighting interspersed with serious political backstabbing. Entertaining, to say the least.

and am hooked. I have looked into ordering the books to my Kindle and plan to read them when I have some time available (after my son graduates high school and house guests have returned home).

7. The best fantasy series since The Lord of the Rings |
|
Bar none. Words cannot do justice to how amazing this series is. My favorite characters are in order: Tyrion, Arya and Danaerys. Cersei and Jaime are just pure evil.
The HBO series is a great adaptation. Wonderful performances abound. I would single out especially Peter Dinklage as Tyrion. What a marvelous, intelligent performance! I also love whoever that is playing Littlefinger (I need to look that up). Perfect casting!
