Need help please

I did a post in the Lounge and found very few answers.

Many years ago I read a short story about an old man in the woods
and an old wolf coming across him. The wolf and the man dying together
with the wolf's head in the man's lap as they found them the next day.

Anyone else read this and anyone know the title or author??
Any help would be a kindness.........
