And I hate to admit I wasn't impressed. I am working my way through the Pulitzer Prize winners. Most I liked; some I don't. This one is clearly on the not list. I appreciate that it is good writing, but nothing. Looking for other's opinions.

1. It wasn't a particularly interesting book to me |

I know some people really like it, but I found it rather dull. I listened to the audio version at work and found myself getting very mentally distracted, because it just couldn't hold my attention.

2. I could have wished for more exciting subject matter... |

...but the writing was gorgeous, and I loved the way the story unfolded, bit by bit. The mystery that is finally solved at the end is a great payoff.
Such openly and thoroughly religious characters are a bit alien to me, but I quickly came to care about them.

3. I'm glad I'm not the only one. |

I just couldn't get into this one. I recognized that the writing is very fine, but the action is SOO slow that I was really wanting to skip ahead and see if "anything" happens. I finally put it down and thought I'd try it in the winter; I seem to be more patient with more reflective books then.
