Harlen Coben and Greg Iles: I was dying before I found these guys! |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-24-06 12:02 AM by babylonsister
I had a bunch of boring books, went to visit Dad and his honey, and Pinky turned me on to these authors.
Give them a try if you haven't.
They are dramatic fiction/crime type of stuff a la James Lee Burke/Nelson DeMille/Michael Connelly. Authors you want to read!

3. I just finished "Dead Sleep" by Iles. Very cool and worthwhile. |
|
I'm on my second Coben novel, "Just One". I can't remember the first, but it was great. Good, puzzling, I was riveted, as I am when I find a 'good' book. Leave me alone, I'm reading! nt I love discovering new novelists in the genre I like (what's the name of that?).

7. There has been a movie made out of one of |
|
Iles books. Don't recall which one. I know I'm a lot of help, but the movie was quite action packed. A plane swooping out of the sky, lands on a highway; something to do with custody of a child, lots of action. I apologize for being so specific.

9. That's Dennis Lehane. He's also one of the writers on The Wire, along with |
|
George Pelecanos and Ed Burns.Lehane and Pelecanos are both excellent writers you may want to look into as well.If you have HBO, The Wire is beginning its fourth season this September(the 10th, I believe.)The best show on TV,hands down.

Haven't started it yet. It looks like a page turner. "Footprints of God" was terrific. Some interesting theological concepts in that book.

12. I'm just getting hooked on Coben |
|
Have read 2 of his books so far-- "Gone for Good" and "Just One Look" and today took 3 more out of the library.
I'll have to check out Iles, if he's comparable.

|
If you like them, try BEAUTIFUL LIES by Lisa Unger. Great book. I think she might be the female Harlan Coben.

15. Based on the posts here, I just bought one from each author |
|
The innocent by Cobin and Black Cross by Iles. How did I do? I didn't pick the titles for any particular reason, just random selection. I'm always looking for new talent and it would make me real happy to find another well of good writing.

16. Been meaning to try Coben; never heard of Iles |
|
I love this type of crime/detective/cia stuff.
When someone wants to know my favorite book, to tell you the truth I haven't read it yet, and hope I never find it. What fun would reading be after that?
