Just finished "1776" by David McCullough |

Wow, just wow. How does he write so well? I've read quite a few books on this era and he fleshes these people out like you're in the room with them saying, yea, I know what you mean there General George. Greene and Knox were terrific men and it's a wonder to me how the Americans were able to beat the British. These men wore rags, were sick, had no shoes and just hung in there. What a great book, I highly recommend it. Especially now with all this crap going on in our country. George Washington would not approve. We need to be reminded what we were fighting for and it was so we could NOT have a king or dictator.

1. Thanks for the Recomm. |

I'm reading The First Crusade by Thomas Asbridge. A little more cerebral and perhaps tougher to get through, but the parallels to today's "Crusade" are striking.
Also have Collapse by Jared Diamond on deck.
Of course, that's after I get through Harry Potter this weekend. One must have priorities.

8. Ha! Me too on the Potter thing: just finished it. Started it at lunch |
|
Monday, finished it at 2:15 am Wednesday: started reading Tuesday night at 4:30 and couldn't put it down except for dinner. I had bought 1776 earlier, but had to do Potter first. So nice to escape into another world for awhile.
