Team of Rivals, Charlie Willson's War, and River of Doubt. All great reads |
|
I just finished this three non-fiction titles and I highly recommend each one of them.
In case you're looking for something to read or gifts for Christmas.

2. Thanks, River of Doubt looks very interesting. |

I'm not a big fan of TR although he did give us Yosemite. I didn't like his attitude towards the working class who wanted an 8 hour day.

3. Charlie Wilson's War was very good -- absolutely recommended |

River of Doubt is on my to-read list, but I'm burned out on Civil War-era history right now so it might be awhile before I'm ready for Team of Rivals.

is a great story. Israel's arming of Pakistan and Afghani tribesmen struck me as a real scoop, though no-one else seemed to notice. Doris Kearns Goodwin is another kettle of fish altogether. I'm reading No Ordinary Time, which strikes me as a loose cut and paste job, marred by brief interludes of her own vapid prose. She writes like a college sophomore.
