Reading a book titled "Big Coal"..... |
|
by Jeff Goodell. It's about the resurgence of coal in America as an energy source. The book addresses some commonly repeated myths about the availability of coal and it's ability to sustain our energy needs over time. Also does a beautiful job of exposing the net result of the coal industry's work in West Virginia.
I'm fifty pages into it and can't put it down. A great read that follows the personal stories of serveral characters who have been impacted by the coal industry. The author also takes Bush to task frequently. Has anyone else read this book?

1. I have heard some good things about it. |

Sounds like a great read. Does it address the mountain top removal method that is currently in vogue? These pigs are really enraging me with their casual pillaging of the environment and lack of concern for the safety of their miners.

addresses the mountain top removal method. The state of West Virginia has catered to the coal mining industry for decades and where has it gotten them? Over 1,000 miles of filled in streams and rivers, abject poverty and terribly educated citizens.
