A lot of people may remember Sarah Chayes, the indomitable NPR reporter who gave on-site reports from Afghanistan when we first "liberated" the country from the Taliban.
She left NPR--and gives her reasons--and began working for the Afghan people through an NGO.
Her book certainly deserves to be read and discussed, even though, as many note, it is not "a balanced account." This woman's passion is as important as the journalist's "balance," if the spin-oriented journalism of today truly has balance.
