"In God's Name" - The Murder of Pope John Paul the FIRST |
|
Read an interesting account surrounding the death of John Paul the First in September 1978 33 days after being selected. The author implies that Paul the Sixth turned a blind eye to financial corruption in the Vatican. John Paul the First was going to clean house and ended up dead. The author also implies that John Paul the Second turned a blind eye to the continued corruption.
Interesting subject matter but a tough read as the author delves into incredible financial minutae.
"In God's Name" - David Yallop. Book is out of print but the wife got it for me on the internet.
Makes one wonder why the Pope is always smiling.

not the best written book you'll ever find and the author is very free with his opinions; but the way he presents the evidence is rather overwhelming that indeed somehow the Pope was murdered.

4. While the financial corruption would have been the main thing |

it was also thought that JP1 was going to loosen up on birth control and other rules that affected the personal lives of the faithful. Needless to say, the conservatives in the Curia were not happy about that, seeing it as a weakening of both the Church's and their personal power.

...and I loved JPI. He was a personable Pope, unlike der Popenfuhrer we have now.

8. LOL, don't call the Pope a Fuhrer. |

Your thread might get locked, as mine did back when he first was elected Pope! Just a warning.
And, BTW, I'm a Catholic.

9. Read it when it first came out ... |

... and yes, it is a fascinating read. Lost the original copy, but found a replacement a few years ago in a second-hand book store. Worth looking for.

I was wondering if the author had any concern for his safety. He seemed to be hitting pretty close to home in the Mafia arena.

The issue of the Vatican bank heist and the involvement of P2/Lydon LaRouche has been well covered. I recently spoke to an Italian preist, he seemed to think it was common in Italy to think JP1 was killed because he was going to look into this issue.

That book was so far back in my memory, I had almost forgotten it. Nice to be reminded it is not ancient history. Yallop writes as an insider, with no indication of sources. The comment of risking haveing a post reply blocked, makes me wonder if the distinction exists between anti-zionism and criticism of (post-July 2006)Israel in the minds of whoever is watching for unclean thoughts.
