Perkins was born and raised as a conservative republican, and became an NSA operative. He tells how the U.S. government/corporations, World Bank and IMF destroy small nations, with the help of the CIA. How they put puppet dictators in place. How they control everything.
Edited to add: It's all for profit and greed and power. So what else is new, right?

5. I've Read Reviews of It In, Dare I Say, EIR? |
|
So start bashing me people, go-go-go!
I'm not a LaRouche fan but I read alternative publications so SHOOT ME! I mentioned LaRouche once on DU and Will Pitt posted "FUCK YOU" so I must not be DU material but I'll risk posting this opinion anyway as a life-long democrat and as a futures trader for 14 years.
The U.S. markets are clearly manipulated in every possible way and this book's supposed insights don't surprise me at all. We Americans will go anywhere at anytime and kill anybody for our own petty political and financial interests, no matter how petty or partisan.
I haven't read the book but I will. Until then, I'll think about the premise of this and other books: "The world is run by the elite".
No shit, that's why democracy exists and that's the reason why America was formed to begin with. As we Americans seem to be moving away from acknowledgement of what a democracy is, this book seems to be a reminder of what America is supposed to be about. And, it'll take force to take it back, force that could be intellectually based, but I doubt it.

I believe in reading everything one has the opportunity to get their hands on. How else can one have a truly informed opinion?
Edited to add: Democracy Now interviewed Perkins and highly recommends his book. They also gave it to large donors. To me that says there is credibility.

how the world really works that the world really works that way. This is the type of evidence necessary to begin to get the consensus needed to create a truly democratic world. This is the most important book that was published last year, IMHO. Yet, we spend far too much time in the mud with the fundies, and that leaves the real power brokers with free reign.

I consider impeccable. It just arrived yesterday (along with Don't Think of an Elephant), so it's near the top of my list.

I wish he had gone into more detail about his "EHM" activities. There was too much personal fluff for my taste.

Everything's gotta be short, and you got to hook the reader by getting personal. Bizarre.
