Ron Suskind's "The Way Of The World" |
|
I'm only 1/3 of the way through but thought to post that it's very good so far.
No spoilers here. It's just like he says, the personal stories of people he interviewed. Instead of dedicating a chapter to each person he goes back and forth within chapters telling the stories as he builds his case for the state of the nation. I find myself eager to know what happens to each one, have held my breath a few times and often can't put down the book.
That's it for now.

2. He was also interviewed on Randi's show today in the bottom of the second hour |
|
They discussed Russia.
You'll be amazed at how timely his book is from the very first pages.

4. I am thoroughly enjoying this book. |
|
I'm at the part where Candace Gorman is in Geneva, looking to get medical attention for the guy in Guantanamo.
It is truly timely. And it just gets me pissed all over again. We've got to elect Obama in November to try to repair the damage from the past 7 years.
Thanks for the recommendation.

3. Thinking of getting it this weekend |
|
The Book Budget is sparing with the Utilities Budget at the moment. Got little Snotty McClellan's book at the library today.

5. I get all my fiction reads from the library |
|
And some non fiction. But during Keith's interview with Suskind I knew I had to have a copy.
I'm up to the part where he talked to the ex-CIA guy who became a contractor. And in that chapter I had my eyes opened about what a great American Sam Nunn has been in the years since he left the Senate. We don't hear about him much except people here being aghast at the possibility of him being Obama's VP. I won't spoil it with details. It's just that he's been a tireless patriot.
So on different levels the book is a good one. I doubt anyone would be disappointed. It reads in a personal way instead of being a scholarly tome. Yet Suskind has a strong and important message.
I started Scott's book but had to set it down when a stack of books came in from the library. I'll go back to it as soon as I finish Suskind's. Hope you post about What Happened so we can compare notes.

7. I got Suskind's book from the library |

this afternoon. I took Snotty's back, I just couldn't get into it and I couldn't renew it past next Wed because it has a hold on it. Maybe, I just don't *like* McClellan... who knows, and I may try it again later.

I am reading this now and I felt that way about the first third of the book. It is very interesting and tells how Bush decided to say Iraq had WMD - without having any proof. It really makes the case for the fact that Bush was lying. I think the last half is harder to read though. Did you finish it yet? Mrs. Hardrada
