President Obama haters also Michael Jackson lovers (does not compute) |
|
You would think that the majority of Michael Jackson fans, supporters, admirers were liberal right?. I have been hanging around a Michael Jackson forum for a while discussing Michael Jackson. Everyone usually would get along very well. One day I posted that it figures Conrad Murray is a republican and a few of the posters got their little feelings hurt assuming I meant that only a republican would “murder” Michael Jackson (which was not my intention at all). So the mods closed the thread. I said, okay fine, this isn’t a political forum so I was okay with that. I logged in on Friday morning and it’s like all hell has broken lose (at least in a couple of topics). There were quite a few posters so upset that President Obama was awarded the Nobel peace prize. Their hatred was really shining through. It reminded me of the MJ hatred here on DU. I really didn’t understand it because I assumed most of the people posting there were democratic or at least on the liberal side. But I guess I was wrong. I couldn’t believe all the hate directed toward President Obama there. One poster had the nerve to say that a lot of the people that voted for Obama have changed sides, which was a bunch of bull. Some of these posters weren’t even American. The majority of the posters ignored those threads, which was a good thing. Finally the mods had to chime in and remind everyone that this forum is about Michael Jackson and not President Obama. I don't understand how someone can love a popular figure so much such as Michael Jackson (which he was all about love) yet in the same breath hate on a President who MJ probably voted for.

Just as all people on the left don't necessarily like or dislike the same things, I would imagine it is somewhat the same with people on the right. Perhaps even some Republicans were caught up with Michael and his music. Or you could look at it this way: right wingers see nothing wrong with African Americans in the arts, or the sports world, but have a hissy fit that a black man is President.

....he was EXTORTED by some money-grubbers, persecuted by the lame$tream media amidst it, and murdered by another money-grubber. You'd think he'd garner some compassion here - but no none such.
I didn't mind Obama's Nobel. I was amused by the wingnut responses - (non-DUers - Limbaugh and the like) but in NO way was upset about Obama getting it.
I ALSO don't get the media disconnect. That people will believe all that's been printed about MJ over the years (and in the present) - but they know enough on DU to NOT to believe the crap the media says on political issues. They KNOW how the media sensationalizes, slants, and twists facts on political issues (or just doesn't report them at ALL) -- but it apparently NEVER occurs to them they do (and have done) the SAME about Michael Jackson?
They did it to Howard Dean. And John Kerry et al with 'accusations' and innuendo and twisted sensationalism - if someone else accused (wingnuts) the lame$tream media used those accusations (sensationalized it, twisted it, and RAN with it) to trash Kerry, etc.
So, WHY would they not do the same to Jackson? Guess what? THEY DID! But some DUers don't GET that. No. They're somehow convinced Michael Jackson was EVERYTHING the media and some money-grubbing extortionists SAID he was - NEVER MIND THE DAMN FACTS. PARTICULARLY the ones the media doesn't even report.
It's amazing.
Beats me.

4. I have to agree. It doesn't make sense. That they would |

like Michael Jackson, and hate President Obama. Now, the other way around, I could understand. If they like Obama, they may not like or appreciate Michael Jackson. They are not against him, or hate him, they just don't like his music or his taste in clothes, etc. I understand that side of the coin. But not the other way. The funny thing about all the objection to Pres Obama and his Nobel Prize, is ... sez who? Who are these people who think they get to determine who gets a Nobel prize? The Nobel committee determines that, it is a private prize, it is theirs and they can damn well give it to anybody they want. How can people try to second guess that? Not legitimately. Only if they think they rule the world or they think they are god. It is insane. dc

Every now and then they let their political views out in their posts. The only satisfaction I get is when I brag that MJ was a Democrat and the doctor that "murdered" him is a Republican. They really hate that. :)
