you have to have protein when you are expending energy like that.

He's not taking more than he can eat at the time, so I don't have a problem with it. Sometimes, he even scavenges kills other animals have made if the kill is fresh enough.

6. Urine is sterile. It can be reused in an emergency situation.

If you're lost at sea I recommend a little recycling as opposed to drinking sea water. You can rinse out wounds with it. You can use it to cure leather too in a pinch.

Now feces? I really can't think of too many uses.

You know...I think there was actually something about drinking urine in the Peace Corps' "Where there is no Doctor" book. I loved that thing,

4. I was pretty disgusted when I saw him

cut up a dead zebra and eat it raw. He didn't even kill it, the thing was just lying there dead. I haven't watched him since.

There's another survival show, "Survivorman" with Les Stroud, in which the host occasionally kills an animal, but they supposedly drop him off alone in the middle of nowhere.

Fucking Bear Grylls has a camera crew following him around, and they all go back to a fucking base camp or hotel at the end of the day, so there's really no excuse for grabbing a frog off a bush and chewing it to death or pulling a lizard out of the sand and sawing its head off against a rock.

If the guy was legitimately in a survival situation, fine. Killing things when you've got a camera crew behind you who all probably packed sandwiches for the day is another thing.

But I suppose just pointing to an animal and saying "You could eat this in a survival situation." doesn't have nearly as much "entertainment" value as eating it alive.
