Live Action Movie Review: Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media |
|
Manufacturing Consent: Noam Chomsky and the Media
Country of origin: Canada
Year: 1992
Genre: Documentary/Argument
Premise: Manufacturing Consent documents author Noam Chomsky's activist leanings and his view of propaganda in the U.S. The first part of the movie can be summed up as 'Chomsky is a cool guy,' while the second part is a strong argument for televised and printed news' role in propaganda and "manufacturing consent."
Humor: I think some of the sections were meant to be funny, but the film makers are better at explaining modern propaganda than they are at making jokes.
Violence: Some violent news footage.
Sex: No sex.
Overall: Manufacturing Consent contains disturbing evidence for its claims. If you enjoy media which is both intellectual and liberal, you will enjoy this film.
