1. I haven't watched this season... |

But, who is the woman who won (how might I know her work)? And, if as the article says she is a professional choreographer/dancer, why was she allowed in this competition?

3. She was allowed because she's never done ballroom type dancing |
|
I know it seems wrong instinctively, but really partner dancing is MUCH MUCH different from hip/hop/pop/jazz solo dancing. Lead and follow and frame amoung other things make it difficult.

IMO, she should not have been allowed to compete. I understand that she has not done ballroom dancing but she is forr all intents a professional singer dancer in her prime. With the amount of professional dance instruction that Evan had for his skating, I think he was a borderline call. They were not like Joey Fatone or Kristy Yamaguchi, who also had tons of dance instruction but were more or less retired from that for several years, of Erin Andrews, who i think took ballet as a girl. Nicole in particular was and still is a professional dancer. She might never have done the foxtror with a partner but that is still a huge huge advantage over those who have never even had professional instruction. If you are going to allow people like her, why not just let the shows pro's dance with each other.
Its all getting a little predictable anyway as there are distinct niches forming that are repeated over and over - the zany comedian, the football player, the crazy old person, the slutty one, the girl next door, the charming guy
