50 cent after losing 54 pounds in 9 weeks on liquid diet (for film)
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1281870/50-Cent-loses-54-pounds-Things-Fall-Apart-film-role.html

These shocking pictures look like a homeless man who has not eaten for weeks.
But they are actually photos of multi-millionaire rapper 50 Cent, who lost a staggering 54lbs in just nine weeks for a film role.
The hip-hop star went on a liquid-only diet and worked out for three hours a day to achieve the staggering weight loss.

2. I hope he did this with the assistance of doctors and nutritionists.
Some actors will gain and lose weight in large amount. Let's hope he did it the smart way.

3. better be an oscar-worthy role & performance!
cuz that looks dangerous. making the organs deal with that kind of weight loss seems inadvisable.

4. What's the insurance payout if he drops dead on them?
Because this diet was a very bad idea.

5. He looked a lot better before.
I agree with the comment that losing so much weight so fast cannot be good for your longevity. Shame on the movie studio for expecting people to do things like this on such a tight schedule.

Now he looks sick. Perhaps that's the role he's playing in the film?

6. Why don't they just find skinny (or fat) actors for these roles?
Edited on Thu May-27-10 03:12 PM by gmoney
Because all anyone ends up talking about is the weight, not the content of the movie. Raging Bull was almost overshadowed by DeNiro's weight gain, and that John Hinckley bio-pic "Chapter 23" was completely lost because studmuffin Jared Leto gained 40 or 50 pounds for the role.

So, whatever this film is, it might as well be marketed as "Fitty got Skinny".

7. He's playing a seriously ill cancer patient. To achieve the look even a skinny person would need to
diet.

8. Right, but not 54 pounds worth
Fitty was built like a bodybuilder or a running back. No decent actors who are built like Kenyan marathoners?

Well, if nothing else, the movie will make back production costs by marketing the diet plan. Hell, I'd try it. Can't be any less healthy than hauling around all this extra weight.

10. Actors will do it anyway
Proves their dedication or "authenticity" or somesuch other nonsense. Nobody made Christian Bale starve on a can of tuna and an apple a day until he dropped 63lbs and looked like this:

He did it himself and the director had to talk him out of further weight loss. 5 months after The Machinist wrapped, he'd bulked up by 100lbs and was in front of the cameras as Batman. Nuts.
